Target Kids' Quality Promise Policy
Target Kids' Quality Promise
Policy effective date: September 2026
At Target, we stand behind the quality of our kids clothing.
The Target Kids' Quality Promise applies to Target branded kids apparel purchased from Target Australia stores, target.com.au or Target on kmart.com.au.
If your child outwears an eligible garment before they outgrow it, Target will provide a refund equal to the original purchase price paid, or a replacement if available, subject to the terms outlined in this policy.
For the purposes of this Kids' Quality Promise, “outwears before they outgrow it” means the garment experiences a quality or manufacturing issue through normal wear and use within 365 days of purchase, before the child has reasonably outgrown the garment.
This Kids' Quality Promise does not apply to national brand apparel, including third-party branded apparel sold by Target.
This Kids' Quality Promise is separate from Target’s change-of-mind policy, including the 365-day change-of-mind offer available to eligible OnePass customers. This Kids' Quality Promise applies only where an eligible Target-branded kids apparel item does not meet the quality standard described in this policy.
This policy is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
To make a claim under the Target Kids' Quality Promise:
- The garment must be an eligible Target kids apparel item, up to kids size 16;
- The claim must be made within 365 days of the original purchase date;
- The item must have been purchased from a Target Australia store, target.com.au or Target on kmart.com.au;
- You must provide adequate proof of purchase;
- The garment must be returned to a Target store for assessment.
Acceptable proof of purchase includes:
- Original receipt;
- Order confirmation;
- Online tax invoice;
- Target App purchase history; or
- Other proof of purchase accepted by Target that demonstrates the item was purchased from Target within the 365-day claim period.
If proof of purchase cannot be provided, Target cannot process the claim under the Target Kids' Quality Promise. Refer to Target’s returns policies below for further information.

Where a claim is approved, Target may offer the following resolutions:
- a refund equal to the original purchase price paid for the garment;

Returns claims cannot be processed by Kmart stores.
The Target Kids' Quality Promise is provided in addition to, and does not limit, any rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law, including where a product is faulty, not of acceptable quality, or does not match its description.
