FAQs
To work as a team member in one of our Australian stores, join our growing talent community by registering your details here. By registering your interest, we’ll reach out to you directly when we can match you to an available role in a store near you.
Once you create a profile in the talent community, it’s important to log in and update your information anytime your circumstances or preferences change. For example, if you move house, be sure to update your address and nominate new stores that might be closer.
After you’ve been to an interview in one of our stores, we'll need your Right to Work in Australia information. This means providing a valid passport with any relevant Visas, an Australian birth certificate and a form of photo identification. If you don’t have a passport or birth certificate, it’s a good idea to apply for these now – they can take between 4-8 weeks and any offer of employment will be made only once these have been received.
Please reach out to your local store to discuss if they’re able to accommodate a work experience placement. Store contact details can be found here.
Anyone over the age of 15 can join the Target team.
If you’re offered a role with Target, your first requirement will be to complete some online learning to give you an insight into your new position, and build a foundational knowledge of Target processes. The store will then set up an in-store induction where you’ll be equipped with all the tools and information you need to start learning different aspects of the Customer Service Assistant position.
Target has a range of roles and positions to suit all kinds of people. Roles are available all over the store, and we do our best to match you and your interests to the role that best suits you. We employ thousands of young people each year with a range of commitments outside of the workplace, including studying at school and university to participating in sports and hobbies. Generally, we can find a role that suits your availability and work expectations. If you’re successful, have a chat to your Store Manager about your commitments.
We understand this may be the first job and formal employment that the young person in your life is entering into. Our aim is to create a good experience for them throughout the process from applying, to their first day, to on-the-job training. At Target, we acknowledge that we have an important place in assisting young people to grow and develop.
As part of being a responsible employer, we’ll require parents or caregivers of those under the age of 18 to digitally sign a parental consent form. Your child will be asked, at the time of application, to provide an email address that we can reach you on. Should employment be offered, the form will be sent to you automatically and must be signed in conjunction with the employment contract. Work will only commence once this form is signed.
No. All we need is for you to complete your online profile and quiz. We acknowledge that for many young people, this will be your first job, and therefore you won’t have a resume. We’ll provide all the appropriate training on the job, and you don’t need to have undertaken any form of work prior to starting with us.
