Our Talent Acquisition Process

We welcome a diverse range of talent at Target. Depending on the role you've applied for, you'll go through one of three different processes to ensure we get to know you and your fit for the role. Here's how it works:

Store Team Members


1. Submit your application online

Search for roles and create your application online here https://www.target.com.au/company/careers/customer-service-assistant


2. Complete our online interactive chat interview

Learn more about our roles in-store and tell us more about yourself. This involves completing an online chat interview about how you might respond to future work scenarios with our partner called Sapia.


3. Quick in-store meet & greet

In a one on one or group format to meet some of our in-store management team.


4. Working Rights Check

We will verify your working rights documents to ensure you can work in our stores.


5. Outcome

With all checks complete you will be notified of your application outcome.


Our recruitment function receives an overwhelming volume of interest for our job advertisements. We genuinely appreciate your enthusiasm and the time you've invested in your application. Store Management roles


1. Submit your application online

Search for roles at Target and create your application online here.


2. Phone interview

Once your application has been reviewed and you go into a shortlist, one of our Talent Acquisition partners will reach out to step you through the application process, asking about your skills, experience and salary expectations.


3. Store leadership team interview

Meeting with some of our store leadership team, you'll get to see our stores and find out more about a career at Target. At this interview, we'll focus on how you demonstrate the competencies of a store manager, and your culture fit.


4. Checks

If you progress past our interview stage, we'll complete a reference and background check.


5. Outcome

You'll either be offered a role, or remain in our talent pool for the next opportunity.


Target Store Support Office (Corporate)


1. Submit your application online

2. Phone screen

For those applicants identified as a potential match for the position, the Talent Acquisition team will arrange a time to discuss the role and your suitability.


3. First interview

You will meet the hiring manager and learn more about the role at Target.


4. Assessment

Some roles will require an assessment task or psychometric assessments to be completed.


5. Second interview

You will have the opportunity to meet with other leaders, peers, or key stakeholders.


6. Additional Interviews (If required)

Depending on the role, you may need to complete a third or additional interviews with an opportunity to meet with other leaders, peers, or key stakeholders.


7. Pre-employment checks

We conduct a range of background checks depending on the position. These might include reference checks, working rights, employment verification and police checks.


8. Formal offer and onboarding

If successful, the role will be offered, and you will receive a contract of employment. Once you have signed the contract, your line manager will connect with you to discuss your first day and provide you a link to commence onboarding.
