PageUp Security Issue
Target is among a number of organisations who may have been impacted by a data security issue following the detection of unauthorised activity on the systems at human resources technology provider PageUp.
Target, which uses PageUp to manage employment applications and employee information, immediately suspended all connections between Target’s systems and PageUp’s systems and stopped all available points of upload when informed of the potential breach, while obtaining information from PageUp about the nature and extent of the security issue. The system was only reinstated once Target received assurances from PageUp and third parties that the original threat had been removed and the system was safe to use.
At Target we take data security very seriously and as such, notified team members, former team members and candidates who may be impacted.
We are not currently aware of any inappropriate activity relating to anyone’s data occurring as a result of the security issue. However, we have recommended that any person who has applied online for a position with Target in the past six years checks to ensure that there has been no recent unusual activity concerning personal information they may have supplied during the employment process.
Based on the most recent update from PageUp, PageUp believes that compromised data may include names, street addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers.
Importantly, PageUp has also advised us that it is confident that the most critical data categories including resumes, financial information, Australian tax file numbers, and employment contracts are not affected in this incident.
The most recent updates from PageUp can be found on their website at https://www.pageuppeople.com/unauthorised-activity-on-it-system/
