Maya is a little bee with a big personality! Set against the backdrop of a longstanding hatred between bees and hornets, Maya is born into a hive where conformity rules. But Maya dreams of an exciting life of freedom, fun and adventure - the world is simply far too interesting to stay inside a hive! But it’s not easy being different. Her funny attempts to fit in and ‘be a bee’ immediately bring her into conflict with the Queen’s Royal Advisor - a narrow-minded control freak whose contempt for curious little bees is only eclipsed by her hatred for hornets. When Maya unwittingly stumbles onto the Advisor’s plot to steal the Queen’s royal jelly and blame it on the hornets, the evil Advisor manipulates Maya into leaving the hive. With her best friend Willi tagging along, Maya buzzes out into the meadow on an exhilarating adventure of self-discovery. Seeking the advice of Flip the grasshopper, a charismatic and eccentric free spirit, she journeys across the dangerous meadow to find her place in the world. In her cheerful, naive way, she has a special knack for creating friendships with some unlikely insects, including the son of the bee-hating hornet. But just when Maya is feeling at home in her new life, she learns that the Royal Advisor is planning to drive the hornets from the meadow once and for all. With her new friends at her side, Maya must overcome the Advisor to prevent a nasty battle between the bees and hornets. But what can one little bee do against an entire hive?
