Stoneware is a hard material and in some cases harder than the cutlery we use. Should your cutlery mark the dinnerset over time cleaning these marks is possible - To remove marks, make a paste of baking soda and water, apply it with a damp sponge or cloth to the marks, rub well, let stand for a few minutes, and then wash as usual.
Commercial stoneware cleaners (available at home-improvement or hardware stores) can also assist.
