Straight Outta Compton is a menswear collection that pays homage to hip-hop street culture, and the notion of conspicuous consumption. Specifically inspired by the gang scene on the east and west coast of America, the collection playfully shows that more is more when it comes to hip-hop royalty. The textile based collection implements digital prints manipulated from hand screen-printing, embellished with glitter and holographic vinyl to create encrusted sportswear. The embellishment is purposefully suggestive of sports uniforms, often worn by hip-hop gang members, as well as the use of traditional Americana iconography, insinuating pride and loyalty.
