At Target, we believe an inclusive Australia is good for business. Our Vision is to ensure we always welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as customers, team members, suppliers and visitors. As an iconic Australian brand, we can play our part in building sustainable economic and social outcomes with Indigenous communities.
Target and Geelong Cats gather to Close the Gap
Each year the Geelong Cats hold healthy lifestyle camps for local young Indigenous people in the lead up to their Closing the Gap round. Target proudly supports The Gathering camps which offer great activities to connect kids to their Indigenous culture. The kids spent time with Geelong football players to learn how to make good choices that will help close the health gap between Indigenous Australians and the rest of Australia.
AIME’s National Hoodie Day Campaign
Target has once again partnered with the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) to help make a positive difference within Indigenous communities by supporting their National Hoodie Day 2016 campaign. National Hoodie Day helps raise awareness for AIME, which provides a structured education program for Indigenous kids to access throughout their high schooling experience. Students completing the program are proven to finish school and transition through to university at the same rate as every Australian child – effectively closing the gap in educational outcomes. The 2016 hoodie has been made with sourcing assistance from Target.
