The Alannah and Madeline Foundation is a national charity, keeping children safe from violence. The Foundation was set up in memory of Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged 6 and 3, who with their mother and 32 others, were tragically killed at Port Arthur on April 28, 1996. It’s vision is that every child will live in a safe and supportive environment.
Our partnership - Target Australia & the Alannah & Madeline Foundation launched the Target ‘Bags for Bags’ campaign across Australia in November 2008. Customers who purchase a new, durable and reusable Target red bag will support children in need through The Alannah and Madeline Foundation’s Buddy Bags Program. The Buddy Bags, which contain essential items such as pyjamas, toiletries, a journal, book and soft toy are provided to children who are required to leave their homes, often at short notice, due to the threat of violence or abuse. Environmentally friendly, these bags are available for purchase in store from $1 and come in three handy sizes. All profits from the sale of these bags go to support Buddy Bags.
